1. Our Purpose & Commitment
The Youth Observatory (Youth Special Interest Group of the Internet Society - Youth SIG) is dedicated to providing a safe, respectful, and harassment-free environment for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, or socioeconomic status.
This Code of Conduct applies to all spaces managed by Youth SIG, including online forums, virtual events, working group chats, physical conferences, and social media platforms.
2. Expected Behavior
We encourage all participants, members, speakers, and volunteers to help us foster a positive environment by adherence to the following guidelines:
- Demonstrate empathy and kindness: Respect differing viewpoints, experiences, and cultural backgrounds.
- Use welcoming and inclusive language: Be mindful of your tone and words in all communications.
- Collaborate constructively: Focus on what is best for the community and accept constructive feedback gracefully.
- Respect privacy: Do not share personal or confidential information of others without explicit consent.
Diversity, inclusion, and safety are the fundamental pillars of all Youth Observatory events and digital initiatives.
3. Unacceptable Behavior
Harassment and unacceptable behaviors will not be tolerated in any form. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or derogatory comments and jokes.
- Personal or political attacks, insults, and trolling.
- Public or private harassment, stalking, or unwelcome physical/online contact.
- Publishing others' private information (doxing) without permission.
- Sustained disruption of talks, workshops, or virtual sessions.
- Unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
4. Enforcement & Reporting
If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any concerns, please report it as soon as possible to the Youth SIG Organising Committee or Working Commissions.

All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and confidentially. Organizers reserve the right to take appropriate actions, including warning the offender, temporary suspension, or permanent expulsion from Youth SIG activities without notice.
5. Scope
This Code of Conduct applies within all Youth SIG spaces (both online and offline) and in public spaces when an individual is officially representing the Youth Observatory or its community.
